Panamanian-American pianist Danilo Perez was born and raised in Panama. After finishing high school moved to the US and studied at Berklee College of Music. Only a couple of years after moving to the US, he started performing with jazz and Latin Jazz musician such as singer Jon Hendricks and saxophonist Paquito D'Rivera. At age 22 he started touring with Dizzy Gillespie and from then on, his carreer has brought him to the best concert halls in the world. He has performed and recorded with masters such as Roy Haynes, Steve Lacy, Michael Brecker, Tito Puente, Jack D'Johnette, Lee Konitz, among many others. He currently performs with his own trio, the Grammy Award Winner 'Wayne Shorter Quartet', serves as ambassador to UNICEF, Artistic Advisor of the jazz series at the Kimmel Center (Philadelphia), Board Member of the Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center, Profesor at New England Conservatory and Berklee College of Music, Founder and Artistic Director of the Panama Jazz Festival and President of the Danilo Perez Foundation. “… but there are still amazing musicians – like Danilo Perez, who plays piano with Wayne Shorter’s quartet.
